Kenya Ports Authority

 The Kenya Ports Authority whose responsibility is to operate, improve and regulate all the scheduled sea ports on the Indian Ocean part of Kenya it's headquarters being in Mombasa island , in Mombasa Kenya ,formed in the year 1978. Recently Mombasa port is the largest port in East Africa and the main gateway for the import and export of goods in Kenya it's also the main gateway to East Africa countries such as Uganda ,Rwanda , DRC south Sudan and Burundi ,it's managed and operated by Kenya Ports Authority. On the northern side of mombasa island the port comprises of kilindini harbour which is mombasa commercial port and it's main harbor where most of the shipping activities takes place the port is capable of handling various types of cargo including passengers , containers , general cargo liquid and dry cargo. Although Kenya Ports Authority is mostly the port operator of mombasa port the authority aims at maintain and regulate all scheduled sea ports along Kenya Coastline, since 1978 when it was established Kenya Ports Authority has accomplished many things especially related to modernization of the Mombasa port. Some of these establishment include steps to automate key port services modernization of port facilities to handle increased traffic Training of port security staff on maritime security containing pollution by investing in equipment to manage oils spills and garbage
